Supernatural Skill: First Hunter
Roll: Alertness + Perception / Sense + First Hunter / Hunter Sense
Cain’s senses are rivaled only by supernatural creatures with the most acute senses. He always adds his Supernatural Skill to Perception rolls that involve one of his senses and treats any can contest any creature’s supernatural ability to fool senses. The Hunter’s senses are on par with the most advanced creatures on the planet and at higher levels can produce supernatural results.
Roll: Alertness + Survival / Tracking + First Hunter / Localization
First Hunters are second to none when it comes to running down prey. While most other supernatural creatures specialize in finding a certain type of creature, First Hunters are capable of tracking any and all creatures, including supernatural ones. The difficulty varies (opposed if the target is actively covering their tracks), but typically each “connection” to the target’s actual trail adds +4 to the difficulty. For instance, if the First Hunter encounters someone who met someone who met his target, he would add a +8 to the difficulty to pick up the trail. This ability can be actively contested by Humans that have somehow acquired a Supernatural Power rating or an artifact that protects them from supernatural powers, typically with an Agility + Covert / Stealth roll.
Roll: Vitality + First Hunter / Resilience
First Hunters are extremely resilient and capable of shrugging off even the most formidable attacks sent their way. A First Hunter can activate this ability reflexively after taking damage and reduce the damage taken by the result.
Roll: Vitality or Willpower + First Hunter / Superhuman Prowess + Supernatural Power
Born to be one of the most terrifying and effective killers to walk Heaven and Earth, First Hunters are capable of pumping up their physical might to extraordinary levels making them a match for even the most powerful members of the Angelic Host. Hunters can take an action to roll his Vitality or Willpower (whichever is higher) + First Hunter / Superhuman Prowess + Supernatural Power. Every difficulty tier grants him a +1 step bonus on all physical attributes for the duration of the scene (+1 step easy, +2 step average, +3 step hard, etc).
Roll: First Hunter / Supernatural Resilience
Mark of the unstoppable Hunter, Cain is incredibly resilient to damage and supernatural powers. When contesting effects from Supernatural Skills, Cain adds his Supernatural Skill to contested rolls. When Cain takes a second wind, he rolls his Supernatural Skill and recovers the result in wound in addition to the normal Stun recovery. Further, every supernatural foe Cain slays in combat grants him an additional second wind for the day.
Roll: Willpower + Discipline / Concentration + First Hunter / Psychokinesis
Part of their demonic heritage when Cain himself was damned by God for slaying his brother, First Hunters can wield impressive psychokinetic abilities. Cain can attempt to affect multiple targets (+4 difficulty per additional target) or affect an entire area (+4 for a room, +8 for a house, etc). Using any form of Psychokinesis is an action opposed by the appropriate Attribute + Skill combination determined by the Storyteller. When causing damage, use their Supernatural Power for the base “weapon” damage.
Roll: Willpower + Covert / Disguise + First Hunter / Stalker
A master of the Hunt, Cain has the ability to make himself as unassuming as he wishes. This power can be used to hide from creatures or make himself appear to be something other than what he is. Both rolls are contested by their appropriate skills from on-lookers, including Supernatural Senses if the creature possesses it. This skill has two uses: the first is to make Cain easily overlooked. While he can’t become invisible, a successful use of this skill causes creatures to simply overlook him. The second use is for appearing to be something that he isn’t. On a successful roll, Cain can appear to be any type of creature (including human) and any Supernatural Power rating he wishes (if the creature is capable of sensing such a thing).
First Hunter: Racial Traits
- First Hunters are immortal, just like Demons and immune to disease
- All First Hunters carry a special weapon tied to their soul called the First Blade
Supernatural Weakness: Killers Curse
Cursed by God for the murder of his brother, Cain was marked with this curse and his children inherited it. God’s punishment for his offenses was to watch his children suffer from his blood lust. Little is known about this weakness except that it drives the sons of Cain into blind murderous rampages, leaving piles of bodies in their wake. Once their bloodlust is sated, they regain control of themselves and can once again act normally.
Supernatural Advantage: Demonic Heritage
While First Hunters aren’t necessary demons proper (as those that are converted by Lucifer are), their father was the first Knight of Hell and as such they’re legacies to a host of supernatural powers. For mystical and other story-related effects when advantageous, First Hunters are considered demons. Despite this, devil traps and exorcisms seem to have no effect on them.
